ice cream and identical twins

 my weekend consisted of:
  •   38 hours of travelling, which included spending most of it being curled up on an uncomfortable economy seat, sleeping on the airport seats in transit, eating horrible airplane food, people watching and missing my family
  • Conversations with a stranger about his daughter, her craft and his grandchildren.
  • Reese’s pieces
  • Spending less than 24 hours with a good friend and her mum and finally meeting her twin sister.
  • A Monday lunch by the pier where I nibbled on baked oysters + calamares as I smelled the salty ocean breeze.
  • Hearing stories of the 70’s in the South California bay as I slurped on my chocolate dipped ice cream like a little girl
  • Sushi + Thai iced tea.
  • Blue skies
  •  Ordinary moments made special

happy father's day to the most wonderful daddy to our son.

I wouldn't be half the mother that I am without you by my side.

when a child feels free

I don't have any words for this except that I thought the whole video was wonderful.

For a whole thirteen minutes, I sat and watched her paint.

I hope you do too.

urban manila

I was recently commissioned to take some photos of my city.  I've never had anyone pay for my photographs and services so it was nice that someone appreciated this newly discovered artistic direction of mine.

They wanted to see the urban side to Manila. The part that is constantly developing. The part that you realise is there for our country to move forward. The part that is there to help it grow. The part that keeps you in it's grasp.

My lens saw things that I usually take for granted. I don't usually look up when I'm sitting in traffic, nor do I stroll through the park in the middle of the city, ever. But on this day, I did.

Sometimes my city suprises me.
I'm glad that once in a while, in the midst of all the chaos, I have reminders that actually...

.... it ain't all that bad.
